"Someone from the audience at Great American passed up a joint and I got really stoned and completely froze. Couldn't play guitar, keyboard, sing. Anything. I had to sit criss-cross apple sauce 'til I could come back to my senses. A bit later I asked the audience for something to snack on (munchies), and lo and behold, someone unexpectedly tossed up an entire box of crackers. Why did someone bring an entire box of crackers to a show? It was that kind of night. Later, there was a mysterious person in our backstage in the corner with their back to us playing with a yo-yo in an intense child-like way. I was spooked. Slide 2 is the only photo I could find from that night. (There's not much remaining from 2004's internet, though I did stumble on a chaotic interview we did backstage before the Noise Pop show)."
