typing hundreds of lines of shitstupid broken, hacked together garbage in order to avoid watching a five minute tutorial video on youtube...
Still slowly making my way thru the live photo galleries. I also built a music room for album art and posters to eventually occupy in the artwork gallery, but as of yet it remains empty.
In other news, Nick Diamonds has launched a patreon page, where he's uploading a lot of unheard songs, as well as some old unicorns demos from "a broken corner of the internet," and, a supposed mysterious old hard drive that has resurfaced. Exciting stuff, although I'm honestly most interested in the new tracks. As much as I respect the attempt to remain fed and sheltered in this economy, I hope he doesn't mind me posting the old stuff up for free for the newcomers.
And speaking of resurfacing, an old track called You're Not Mine by Tam recently popped up on youtube, apparently co-written with Nick Diamonds in 2006 and released on Thurston Moore's label. Check out the wonderful video!
I made a custom favicon. Isn't it cute? Nothing like the whiplash you get as an artist learning a new skill, from the constant vascillation between the absolute knowledge that you are the most powerful sorcerer to ever live, and the crushing realization that you were actually the world's biggest idiot buffoon all along. Now I only have to update like 200 fucking pages to add it. my cute favicon. The more I learn about how to ummm code a webpage correctly, the harder I have to fight the demons telling me to go back and update the work I've already completed. No time for that. Too much left to do already, and so little time. My next website is gonna be soooo cool though.
I finally got together all the photos I've found from the unicorns' live shows up through their breakup in 2004, and I'm currently working my way through that section of the galleries. I was really good about keeping all the sources where I saved everything from, and I'll add that stuff in the descriptions of the photos as soon as I get to it. But for now if I stole your old photos off flickr and you are mad at me, click here.
Okay. I built a page for the photo gallery. I haven't hung any of the pictures yet, but at least the walls are up. Meanwhile, I'm learning javascript from scratch now just so I can hide some stuff in the fridge...you'll see what I mean. I can't believe I never learned to do this earlier in life. It's not even that hard, for a genius like me
Just kidding, do NOT look at my code
Even though I still need to build the actual galleries themselves, I spent a bunch of time yesterday building an interactive haunted dollhouse directory on the galleries page. Form over function? Maybe a little. The effect itself is so satisfying, who even cares about the unicorns? Uploading and sharing the old bootlegs via wetransfer on instagram and forcing the most devoted to transcribe the urls themselves is getting old though, so I seriously need to put together the downloads page soon. Hazing the new fans a little bit is fun, but I never meant to turn this into a tedious ARG.
finally, after a year and a half of total neglect, this project is launched in its incomplete state, thanks to neocitites and the encouragement of several devoted fans. Many updates on the horizon; only roughly half of the "shows" pages are constructed, not to mention nearly all of the other intended features of this site. But for now, it's exciting to share what progress had been made on this fan site by the time it was abandoned in 2022.
